TPO Roof Installation in Queens, NY
TPO roof installation by Foundry Roofing puts a white single-ply membrane with heat-welded seams on flat and low-slope commercial, apartment and condominium roofs across Queens. We install it as a full tear-off or as a recover over the existing roof.

Install steps
Five stages, each checked before the next
Each layer passes a check before the next goes on.
-
Inspection and strip-out
First comes the inspection that settles tear-off or recover. If stripping exposes rotted or rusted deck, we replace the decking first.
-
Tapered insulation
Tapered polyiso boards build slope toward the drains, topped with a cover board as a firm base.
-
Membrane attachment
The white TPO is fully adhered or mechanically fastened, chosen by deck type and wind exposure.
-
Seams and flashing
Hot-air welders fuse every seam. Membrane flashing then wraps curbs, parapets, drains and penetrations.
-
Probe and sign-off
Every seam is probed before we sign off the finished roof.
Where it fits
Which buildings gain from white TPO
White TPO reflects summer sun, so top-floor units run cooler and cooling loads drop. It suits the flat and low-slope roofs we specialize in: apartment buildings, condominiums, warehouses, offices and retail. Below the membrane, the tapered layer carries water to the drains.
Occupied buildings take planning. We agree tear-off hours with management or the board, give tenants notice and close each section watertight by the end of the day.

We install TPO from five makers, and our page on weighing TPO against EPDM or PVC helps if the membrane choice is still open.

FAQ
Your TPO install, answered
Can you install TPO over an existing roof?
Yes, over a single existing layer that is dry and sound. Wet insulation or two existing layers means a full tear-off.
Does TPO need to be glued down?
Not always. It is either fully adhered with bonding adhesive or mechanically fastened with plates and screws in the seam laps.
What goes under a TPO roof?
The deck, then polyiso or tapered polyiso insulation, then a cover board. The membrane is laid over that board.
How often do TPO roofs need to be replaced?
Typically after two decades or more on a well-installed system. Yearly inspections and repairs to an aging membrane push replacement further out.
